Between April 9 and 13, Fit and Fun Playscapes was at the annual SHAPE America Conference. Did you see us there?
The conference, which was held this year in Tampa, Florida, brings together health and physical education professionals from across the United States, and from virtually all age groups. Representatives from kindergarten, all the way up to the university level, were in attendance, as were some 150 vendors, all offering the latest products in health, education and school fitness. Sponsors of the conference included GOPHER Sports, AXE, and Kidz Bop.
The goal of the conference is to spread awareness about the massive benefit of having fit and active students in the classroom and to educate teachers on how they can best utilize tools to turn their kids into active learners. Being an active learner is important because it provides the best chance for a student to remember what they’ve learned during the day, since they’re engaged, focused and attentive throughout. But of course, setting up the right environment for active learning is difficult. That’s why the SHAPE America Conference was created.
Over the four-day period, attendees of the conference were allowed to walk through vendor booths and talk with the companies creating the latest innovations in education, health, and physical exercise. Some of these top-of-the-line vendor products included desks with pedals, sports equipment, competitive pickleball, nutrition programs, and musical “edutainment” software. There were also keynote speakers, live product demos, and plenty of time for teachers from across the country to share ideas and stories.
We had a great time meeting all of you who attended. We also had a blast sharing our custom playground stencils and recess games with you, like the live demo of our Roll-Out Recess games line (which was poppin’, by the way).
I mean, look at all those people!
It was an awesome experience, and we hope to see those of you who didn’t attend next year!
